🚨 Your Scripts Are Probably Already Outdated!

3 ways to pitch trend-aware concepts on Clip without copying everyone else.

Social media moves FAST. A format can be everywhere one week and feel completely overdone the next — which means when you're pitching scripts on Clip, simply knowing what's trending isn't enough.

The goal isn't to recreate the exact video you saw 20 times yesterday. It's to understand why something is working right now and use that insight to make your own concept feel current, native to the platform and relevant to the brand.

So, how do you actually do that? 👇

When you see a video performing well, don't immediately think: “I should make this exact video.” Instead, break it down.

Ask yourself:

  • What happens in the first 2 seconds?

  • Is the creator using a question, statement, reaction or visual action as the hook?

  • How quickly do they introduce the product?

  • Is the video talking to camera, using voiceover or relying on text?

  • What keeps you watching until the end?

For example, if you're seeing lots of videos starting with “I wish someone told me this sooner…”, you don't need to use that exact sentence.

You could take the underlying curiosity + personal discovery structure and adapt it to the product:

“I didn't realise I was doing this wrong until I tried this…”

Same psychological structure - completely different concept.

Your job isn't to recreate the video. It's to understand the reason YOU stopped scrolling.

Before pitching a concept, spend 10–15 minutes actually scrolling TikTok or Instagram. But don't just look for products similar to the one you're creating for. Look at formats.

Maybe you're noticing:

  • More creators using very short, punchy voiceovers

  • More “come with me” style storytelling

  • Fast cuts between different locations

  • More conversational, almost unedited talking-to-camera content

  • A specific style of opening text

  • Creators showing the problem before revealing the product

Once you've spotted a pattern, ask:

“How could this format make THIS product more interesting?”

Then build your pitch around that. For example, instead of pitching:

“I'll do a skincare testimonial showing how much I love the product.”

Try:

“I'll open with a close-up of my skin and a quick ‘POV: your skin decides to rebel the week you have plans’ hook, then move into a casual bathroom routine showing exactly where the product fits into my evening.”

You've gone from generic testimonialspecific, trend-aware concept with a storyline.

This is where creators can easily go too far. You don't need a trending hook + trending audio + five jump cuts + giant text + a viral transition + a completely new editing style.

That's not trend-aware. That's trend overload. Instead, choose ONE element that makes your concept feel current.

For example:

Trend: creators are showing more natural, conversational footage.
Your adaptation: write the script like you're genuinely telling a friend about the product rather than delivering a polished advert.

Trend: problem-first hooks are performing well.
Your adaptation: start with the frustration the product solves before introducing it.

Trend: “day in my life” storytelling is everywhere.
Your adaptation: weave the product naturally into an existing routine instead of making the entire video a product demonstration.

This also makes your pitch much easier for a brand to understand.

You're not saying, “I want to make this because it's trending.”

You're saying, “I've noticed this style of content is working, and here's how I can use that format to communicate your product's USP.”

✍️ Your Creator Checklist

Before pitching your next script on Clip, ask yourself:

☐ What formats am I seeing repeatedly on social right now?
☐ What specifically makes those videos work?
☐ Can I adapt the structure rather than copy the content?
☐ Does my concept clearly communicate the product's USP?
☐ Have I given the script a specific storyline rather than just listing features?
☐ Am I using one trend intentionally instead of throwing everything into one video?

It looks like you naturally understand how people are consuming content right now - and you've found a smart way to make that work for the brand 👏

And remember: trends change constantly, but the skill of understanding why content works? That stays valuable.

Watch as Vicky used a trending “out of the bag” hook but made it completely her own, while sticking to her natural style of content. Nothing’s overdone - but used smartly to introduce the product in an unusual and scroll-stopping way. Well done, Vicky!
