🔊 Masterclass: Make Your Sound as Sharp as Your Shots
👉 All the info you need to enhance the audio side of things.

📹 ✅ We know you’ve mastered the aesthetic - golden hour lighting, clean transitions, colour-matched captions - but let’s talk about what some creators overlook: AUDIO.
Sound is what makes people stay on your video. It builds emotion, trust, and vibes - all the things we need for killer UGC.
Below is your go-to guide on making your voiceovers clearer, music smarter, sound effects more impactful, and your post-production tighter. Let’s go!

1. 🎙️ Voiceover & Talking to Camera
The goal? To sound like someone your audience trusts.
Whether you're reading a voiceover script or talking straight to camera, your voice is doing heavy lifting:
It carries the message
It builds credibility
And it helps people connect with the product
🎯 What matters most:
Tone = trust → Sound like a human. Not a presenter. We want to hear the little ups and downs in the tone of your voice, and some quirks too!
Pace = clarity → Don’t rush. Pauses are your friend - but remember to play with them in the post-production.
Energy = engagement → Talk like you're recommending something to a friend over coffee, not reciting a school project. Think FaceTime with your friend!
🎤 How to get clean audio (no fancy mic required):
Use your phone’s voice memos (iPhone has great built-in mics!) or record on CapCut directly.
Record close-up — 10–15cm from your mouth, not too close though - keep an ear on those “pop” sound distortions!
Use a quiet space — bedrooms, closets. Soft surfaces absorb echoes - so think carpet, curtains, pillows, blankets.
Avoid holding your phone — set it down or prop it up to reduce hand noise
Do a sound check — record a 10-second test, listen back with headphones, also always listen to each part of your voiceover you record - this is essential to catch little mistakes before it’s too late (especially when speaking to camera)
Don’t overthink your sentences - if you missed a less important word of your script but it sounds super natural - this will win every time over a perfectly polished take that doesn’t really feel like you.
💡 Clip Tip: Smile while talking. You can literally hear the warmth in your voice!

2. 🎶 Music – If it’s in the brief, make it work with your voice.
Music can elevate your content - if you get it right. But it should support, not distract from your message. Also, only add it if requested as an add-on in your brief.
✅ Key rules:
Use copyright-free music only (no exceptions - trust us, takedowns are no joke)
Lower the volume under your voiceover - your voice should always dominate
Avoid vocals if you’re talking - lyrics + speech = mess
Avoid heavy or dropping beat - this will always make your volume too loud and too quiet at different points
Fade in/out music to avoid jarring starts or stops and to make your content feel more polished
🔎 Where to find royalty-free music:
YouTube Audio Library (free, searchable by mood)
CapCut (search for Commercial Sounds, great library and easy to add)
🎵 Choosing the right vibe:
Skincare / beauty → calm, lo-fi, ambient (think spa vibes)
Fitness / gym → upbeat, rhythmic, motivational (but not overpowering)
Food / recipe content → light jazz, acoustic, or cheerful funk
Tech unboxings → clean, minimalist electronica
Travel / lifestyle → cinematic, upbeat indie
🎚️ Clip Tip: Start your music at 100% volume, then bring it down to around 15–25% under your voice. Play with it until it feels right - the goal is “you’re the star, music is the set design.”
But ALWAYS rewatch the whole thing before exporting (and remember to crop that sound - otherwise your video will go on for 3 minutes straight!)

3. 🔊 Sound Effects – trendy, but only when they add value
SFX can seriously boost engagement if used with intention. Too many though? It’s chaos. One random one? Awkward.
🎯 Use them to highlight change:
Visual transitions (zoom, pan, swipe) → whoosh, pop, ding, mouse click
Reveals (product opens, before/after, face reveal) → sparkle, snap
Action textures (pouring, typing, brushing) → use real sounds for tactile feels
Emphasising motion (hand swipe, product toss) → subtle swoosh or bounce
🚫 Don’ts:
Avoid using SFX just for the sake of it - they need a reason
Don’t stack too many in a short timeframe - the video gets noisy, not better
Don’t use the same effect over and over - variety matters, but they need to correspond with one another
✅ Dos:
Choose SFX that match the tone - playful for light content, minimal for sleek product demos - you can find them in Sounds on CapCut by typing the type of sound you want to find - don’t get overwhelmed, there’s a ton!
Layer sound with action - when your hand moves, your sound should follow
Use SFX as punctuation - think of them like emojis. Helpful if placed right, annoying if overdone
🔥 Clip Tip: If you're unsure, use no more than 3 sound effects for a 30-second video unless the brief says otherwise.

4. 🛠️ Post-Production – clean your audio the smart way
Even the best content can sound sloppy if there’s hiss, background chatter, or echo. Good editing helps - but good recording habits are better.
✅ First: Get it right while recording
Avoid rooms with hard surfaces, buzzing fridges etc.
Turn off fans, AC units, notifications
Close windows. Traffic can be distracting too, and so can your roommates (sorry! just 5 minutes, promise)
Hold your breath for a second before speaking — then talk
🧰 THEN fix in post (if you must):
CapCut → Use Noise Reduction under Audio settings. This will only reduce it slightly, so think radiator or low humming. You can also enhance your speech!
Adobe Podcast Enhance → Upload your audio, adjust the “Enhance Speech” slider WAY lower than default for a more natural sound.
DaVinci Resolve / Premiere Pro → Use “EQ” or “DeNoise” to gently cut out background frequencies — not totally though.
🧠 Clip Tip: Use post as a safety net, not a crutch. The cleaner your raw recording, the more professional your final product will feel.
🔔 Make Your Sound as Sharp as Your Shots
We obsess over how our content looks - lighting, colours, composition — but the way it sounds is just as important. Viewers subconsciously decide whether to keep watching based on how your video feels, and sound is a huge part of that.
Clean voiceovers. Smart music. Punchy effects. Smooth edits.
These aren’t extras - they’re essentials. They show effort, value, and professionalism.
So next time you're creating:
