⏱️ Less Burnout = Better Content

Time-saving tricks for creating productive UGC.

📹 ✅ We all know, this “content creation” thing isn’t just about being creative. It’s about being your own planner, videographer, editor, stylist… and sometimes, even your own cheerleader!

It’s a whole new level once you start getting regular projects - deadlines, shot lists, reshoots, feedback rounds. That creative spark that we all love so much - yeah, it can burn out really fast if you’re constantly feeling behind or overwhelmed.

So this week, we’re giving you a little love in the form of actual time-saving, stress-reducing tips to help you work smarter, not just harder. These are small shifts that can save you hours every week and keep your energy focused on making great content - not just clearing your camera roll every night 😅

There is literally no worse feeling than your phone yelling “Storage Full” when you're mid-recording… but you’re not alone. Here's how to fix that without deleting your best takes:

✅ Clear the clutter:

  • Delete duplicate photos & videos (apps like Gemini Photos can help).

  • Regularly offload raw content after editing — no need to keep the same 5 takes in 4K. If you use a Mac, AirDrop is going to be your best friend!

  • Go to Settings > iPhone Storage (or Android equivalent) and sort apps by size. You’ll be shocked what’s lurking in there. Delete the ones you never use or forgot you even downloaded (also check your Whatsapp - soooo much storage to free up there!)

  • Keep an eye on Cache files on your apps - especially on CapCut, there are gigabytes of wasted files there, and don’t worry - you’re not actually deleting any of your projects or clips.

☁️ Back it up like a pro:

  • Playbook: They will give you 4TB of free online storage if you send your creative portfolio to them - you can also use multiple folders and kanban views to organise your content. It’s a creative fund we wish we found sooner!

  • Amazon Photos: If you have Prime, you already get unlimited full-res photo storage and 5GB free video storage.

  • iCloud tip: Enable Optimise Storage under Settings > Photos. This keeps high-res versions in the cloud and low-res previews on your phone — total game changer.

Editing shouldn’t take longer than the shoot itself. Here are tools that seriously streamline your process:

💻 For Video Editing:

  • CapCut: Still the GOAT for 9:16 format videos — now with desktop version too. Save templates for client-specific formats and keep your favourite sounds and transitions in folders!

  • VN Video Editor: If you want more control (audio ducking, multi-layer editing), this is the one.

  • Splice: Great solution when you struggle with phone storage, as everything is saved on Cloud and you can have a couple running projects at the same time.

  • Adobe Express: Still a BETA version, but there are some great templates and masses of ideas for you to take inspo from.

🎨 For Graphics & Text:

  • Canva Pro: Whenever a static is needed, Canva is still the best and the easiest. The Brand Kit feature = chef’s kiss.

  • Mojo: Stylish animated templates for reels/stories — especially good for fashion, beauty, or lifestyle brands.

Pro tip: Build reusable presets (colours, fonts, transitions, watermark) to speed up your workflow across different projects.

Unpredictable weather used to ruin our content days, however there are some tricks to avoid that!

📅 How to Plan Around It:

  • Use MyRadar, Windy, or AccuWeather MinuteCast to spot dry windows.

  • Aim for golden hour (early morning or late afternoon) — even on cloudy days, it softens light beautifully so it’s your best shot.

  • What a perfect time to experiment with artificial light - you can make it look really stunning by working out the space around you and some reflections!

  • ALWAYS shoot in front on a natural light source, even when the days are cloudy or rainy, it’s still the best you can do!

☁️ Make the Most of Cloudy Days:

  • Batch indoor b-roll content: waking up, going to bed, workouts, making a tea, skincare - so all the shots that look natural with moodier light or artificial light.

  • Keep a "bad weather shot list" — low-effort but high-aesthetic ideas for those grey days. This seems like it’s a waste of time, but actually it all lies in the preparation.

☀️ Communicate!

  • Brands want the best content possible, so if you see the light is not GIVING, let the brand know and ask if their priority is fast video delivery or better quality. 80% of brands will be happy to wait for a better quality content!

  • Weather should never be a source of stress for us, creators, as we already have enough on our shoulders.

🔁 Repurpose Like It’s a Sport

One of the most underrated UGC productivity hacks? Repurpose everything.

From one shoot, you can squeeze out more than just one UGC video! Think portfolio pieces, b-roll that you can reuse in other videos and clips for your future projects. Perhaps even an inspiration for another video?

This saves time and gives you more content to build your personal brand while fulfilling client deliverables.

🎙️ Talk It Out: Fast Scriptwriting

You don’t need to spend hours typing perfect scripts.

Use Voice-to-Text on your phone or Google Docs to literally talk out your script like you’re on FaceTime. It helps you sound natural and reduces the blank screen anxiety.

Later, you can polish it into bullet points or use it as it is - because let’s not forget, the best UGC sounds like real people talking anyway.

🧠 Build a “Content Bank”

Create a Notion, Google Sheet, or Playbook folders for b-roll shots that you can repurpose in other UGC videos. Think:

  • Yoga, workouts, stretching

  • Making breakfasts, cooking, making tea / coffee / matcha

  • Waking up / Going to bed

  • Reading books, scrolling on your phone

  • Shopping, running errands, scenes in the car

If you’re out and about, take those short clips for future (to avoid having to shoot them on one day!) - and keep them categorised to save SO. MUCH. TIME!

Remember - being a content creator doesn’t mean you need to be “on” 24/7. You just need systems that support your creativity (and give your brain a break).

Small changes like organising your storage, batching on cloudy days, and using the right apps can actually give you more time to focus on what matters - creating content you’re proud of and landing clients who value your work.
