ππ Brands Are Asking For Christmas / Halloween Content Already?!
How to make your content feel seasonal without turning your home into a full-time Christmas set.
If you've started getting Halloween or Christmas briefs on Clip already, you're probably thinking one of two things: βAlready?!β π
Or:
βWhere am I supposed to film this without making my entire house look like a Christmas shop?β
The good news is: you really don't need to.
Seasonal content doesn't have to mean completely redecorating your home when it feels like way too early. A few intentional details can completely change how a space feels on camera - and the key is making those details easy to bring out, easy to film with and VERY easy to put away again.
Here are 3 ways to make seasonal filming much less stressful π
Instead of buying decorations every time a brand asks for seasonal content, create one small box or storage bin specifically for filming.
For Halloween, this could include a seasonal candle, a couple of small decorations, a dark or autumnal cushion cover / blanket and maybe a little pumpkin or two.
For Christmas, think:
π―οΈ A festive candle
π§Έ A cosy blanket
ποΈ A seasonal cushion cover
π½οΈ A festive tablecloth or runner
β¨ A few small ornaments
π Small Christmas decorations / tiny tree if youβre feeling fancy
The important part is not having loads of stuff.
Choose pieces that can completely change a shot without taking over the frame.
And because everything lives in one box, when a brand sends you a Christmas brief in September, you don't have to go hunting around your house thinking, βWhere did I put that stupid Christmas cushion?β π
You can simply grab the box, style your shot and put everything away afterwards.
If you're planning on doing a lot of seasonal content, having one little filming area that can be quickly transformed is a game changer.
You could have a small corner with fairy lights that work for both Halloween and Christmas, then switch out the details depending on the brief.
For Christmas, maybe it's:
π A little tree
β¨ Fairy lights
β A cosy mug
π A couple of wrapped presents
For Halloween:
π A trick-or-treat basket
π―οΈ A seasonal candle
πΈοΈ One or two subtle decorations
π€ Darker textures or colours
But here's the important bit:
Don't create a set that takes you an hour to dismantle.
If you have to move half your living room every time you need to film a different brand, you're going to start avoiding seasonal content altogether. Keep the setup small enough that you can reset it in 10 minutes or less.
Think: one corner, one surface, one box of props.
That's enough.
Sometimes your home already looks perfectly fine for the content - you just need one or two details to make it feel seasonal.
And honestly? Your outfit can make a HUGE difference.
You don't necessarily need a Christmas tree in the background for something to feel festive.
Think:
π€ Cosy autumnal colours
π§Ά Woolly jumpers
𧦠Thick socks
β€οΈ Red knitwear
π€ Creams, browns and deeper tones
π A slightly festive jumper when appropriate
Even something as simple as filming a skincare routine in a chunky jumper or thick robe with a warm drink beside you can immediately feel more autumn/winter appropriate.
And this is especially useful when the brief doesn't require an obviously seasonal setup.
You're still keeping the content natural, but you're giving the viewer those little visual cues that say: βYep, weβre in the cosy season.β
βοΈ π Your Seasonal Content Checklist
Before your next Halloween or Christmas shoot, ask yourself:
β Do I have a small box of seasonal props ready to grab?
β Can I transform one filming corner in a few minutes?
β Can I reuse the same pieces across different brands?
β Will the decorations actually add something to the shot?
β Can I reset the space quickly afterwards?
β Could my outfit create more of the seasonal feeling instead?
Remember, seasonal doesn't have to mean overwhelming. You don't need to turn your home into a haunted house or a Christmas wonderland just because a brand needs a seasonal video π
A few well-chosen details, the right colours, some cosy styling and a little bit of planning can do SO much more than filling every corner of the frame with decorations.
And if you're starting to see those Christmas briefs come through already...
π Look at you! π
Last yeae, Kelsey absolutely smashed this gorgeous, festive family brief! If you really focus, everything is shot in one corner of their home with Christmas decor, while still maintaining a dynamic, fun atmosphere! Well done, Kelsey xx
