😬 4 UGC Creator Struggles No One Talks About (But We All Feel)

🎬 The quiet problems UGC creators face - and how to solve them

đŸ“č ✅ Let’s skip the lighting tips and get real for a second. Being a UGC creator can be fun, creative and empowering - but also
confusing, repetitive, and weirdly isolating sometimes, right?

There are some struggles we all deal with, but no one’s really saying out loud. Until now.

Let’s unpack 4 niche, under-discussed UGC problems - and what to actually do when they sneak up on you.

1. đŸ˜¶ You Can’t Tell What “Your Voice” Is Anymore

The Problem:
You’ve shot so many videos in so many brand voices that you start sounding like a voice actor. One day you’re bubbly and Gen Z-coded, the next you’re calm and corporate. Now you’re reading your new script and wondering:

“Wait
do I sound like me at all?”

Why It Matters:
Your authenticity is your value. If your voice starts feeling too "shape-shifty," your content can lose its spark - and worse, you can lose your creative identity.

How to Deal:

  • Inject one consistent element into every video - a tone, phrase, gesture, or even your pacing. That’s your personal brand glue.

  • Make room for unpaid content at least once a month. Try a personal “mock UGC” just for fun - no brief, no pressure. Try to sell a banana, or a shoe lace - it sounds ridiculous, but can help generate that creative flair again!

  • Use the “Would I say this IRL?” filter on every script. If it feels robotic, rework it. Make sure it’s something you’d actually say to a friend (unless requested otherwise).

🎯 Remember: you’re hired for your relatability, not just your camera angles.

2. đŸ“č You’re Filming the Same Shot Over and Over

The Problem:
Every video starts looking identical. Flat lay. Face shot. Product wave. Talking head. Repeat. Kiss to camera at the end. Your camera roll looks like a copy-paste job and you feel uninspired.

Why It Matters:
Audiences scroll fast - visual sameness means faster drop-off. Brands are paying for scroll-stopping variation, not rinse-and-repeat templates.

How to Deal:

  • Use micro-perspective shifts. Take one 5-second shot and break it into 3 clips: one from eye-level, one from a low angle, one from overhead. Same action, new dynamic.

  • Switch up your POVs:

    • Overhead ("bird’s-eye") for lifestyle scenes, spice it up!

    • Eye-level for trust-building

    • Low-angle ("from below") for drama or power

    • From-behind ("POV-style") for that real authentic “follow me” vibe

    • Outside-of-box (Camera POV, overlays etc.) for that creative and scroll-stopping moment

  • Incorporate movement - slow pans, hand-offs, product-in-use transitions. Think transitions without special effects. All these little things make your video special.

  • Leave room for unexpected moments - you dropped the bottle? Try to add it to your video with a little cheeky smile! Something made you laugh in between shots? Perfect - try to add that moment in a story-telling way!

🎯 Every 2–3 seconds, change something: angle, framing, or action. Keep the viewer visually engaged at all times. This will also make your brain think of new ways how to showcase products.

3. 🧠 You’re Out of “New Routine” Angles

The Problem:
You’ve shown your skincare routine. And your shower shelf. And your oat milk latte moment. Now the brief says: “Make it lifestyle” - and you’re stuck.

Why It Matters:
UGC lives and dies on relatability. But repetitive setups = viewer fatigue. If you're bored while filming, they'll be bored while watching.

How to Deal:

  • Focus on tiny human moments: the click of a button, the steam rising from the kettle, the messy drawer before the routine, perhaps tightening your robe.

  • Layer your b-roll: Show the routine from both your POV and the product’s. E.g., opening a bottle from your hand, then from the product’s “perspective.” Same with opening a cupboard - break it down from the outside and inside.

  • Use storytelling tweaks:

    • Instead of “My morning routine” → “Join me on my 5-9 before my 9-5”

    • Instead of “Unboxing” → “What’s been living in my cart for 3 weeks and is finally here”

🎯 Same story, new entry point. It’s all about framing (literally and narratively).

4. đŸ„Ž You Don’t Know If Your Content Is Even Good Anymore

The Problem:
You script, film, edit - and then second-guess everything. “It’s too basic.” “I hate my voice.” “Will they even like this?”

Why It Matters:
Burnout often comes disguised as perfectionism or imposter syndrome. When your creativity becomes self-doubt, it’s easy to procrastinate, spiral, or even miss the expectations from the brief.

How to Deal:

  • Pause before submitting your final video. Walk away and rewatch later with fresh eyes - 90% of the time, it’s better than you think. The other 10% - you can make that little editing tweak that will make your ad SO much better.

  • Send a draft to a fellow creator or friend. Don’t ask “Is this good?” Ask: “Would you keep watching?”

  • Create a mental checklist for “good enough”:

    • Did it hook in 3 seconds?

    • Did I explain the product clearly?

    • Did I match the brief’s tone/goal?

    • Did I add a natural CTA?

🎯 Your job isn’t to create “perfect.” It’s to create engaging, authentic content that speaks to a real human on the other side of the screen.

✅ Final Creator Self-Check

Before you hit submit on your next draft, ask yourself:

☐ Did I bring my voice, even while following the brand’s?
☐ Did I shoot from at least two different angles or POVs?
☐ Did I make a familiar routine feel fresh or personal?
☐ Did I stick to what the brief asked for - without overthinking it?

Keep this checklist saved, and pull it out when your camera roll starts to look like déjà vu.

There’s nothing wrong with facing these moments - but you don’t have to stay stuck in them. You’ve got this 👊
